The Government’s mandating of the use of building information modelling (BIM) to level 2 on centrally funded projects by 2016 is having a significant impact across the SME sector. The groundswell of interest generated by the wider public sector involvement means that SMEs will progressively be expected to work within BIM environments.
BIM is essentially value creating collaboration through the entire life-cycle of an asset, underpinned by the creation, collation and exchange of shared 3D models and intelligent, structured data attached to them.
As a result M.B.Roche & Sons Ltd are working towards becoming BIM ready in advance of the 2016 deadline and have appointed a ‘BIM Champion’, director Matthew Roche to drive the change required.
The five day programme, delivered over five months by NFB, will combine group learning, knowledge sharing and practical activities in order to:
Provide a detailed understanding, including the external drivers, the internal benefits and uses
Deliver a structured understanding of the Government’s framework
Enable the ‘Champion’ to map their own process against best practice
Provide the ‘Champion’ with the tools and techniques to influence behavioural change in their organisation
Enable the ‘Champion’ to develop a Strategy to guide their company towards becoming BIM ready
Provide attendees with a CPD certificate as recognition of the CPD hours earned.
